More Maui

We spent a morning driving up to Iao Valley State Park.
It was about a 45 minute drive and I remember going there nearly 20 years ago when my family was on vacation in Maui.

We giggled at this sign.
Not all graffiti is bad.

If I could get my scanner to work, I could put a side by side of a picture that I have of my mom and I in this very spot when I was 17.

This was just before Mike pushed my dad into the rushing water.

Owen is always happy to climb and explore on the rocks.

We left the park and stopped at the Kepaniwai Heritage Garden.
We couldn't climb the old banyan tree in Lahaina, but this one didn't have any rules saying that we couldn't.

On our way back to the condo,
we stopped at a drive up stand and the kids tried fresh coconut water
{they didn't like it}
and sugar cane

Aidan stayed back with my parents for some pool time, and the littles went with us to Kapalua bay.
It was becoming a favorite spot for our family.

Maui always has the most awesome sunsets.

Maui trip cont...

A continuation of the post from yesterday...
This is after Mike and Owen jumped off the 25 foot cliff.  There was quite a swim around the rock face into the bay.

Love how blue that water is!

There is a random ladder

We had a bird friend that would fly in if we left our patio doors open.
Seemed totally normal.

We took a drive and a short hike with the parentals up to Nakele blowhole.

Lots of beautiful cliffs with some killer waves.

This blowhole was formed by a lava shelf and at high tide the water can blow up to 100 feet.

Owen was standing close enough to get drenched!

Check out that spray!

Trying to throw rocks in the blowhole.

At the bottom of the trail, there is a pretty cool heart rock.

The pictures don't do this justice.
It was gorgeous!
Though don't get too close.
There have been accidents when tourists play too closely to the blowhole.

We spent a morning in Napili bay.

We explored the tide pools

Papaw made Bella into a sand mermaid.

And Owen was a mummy.
He even had a sand pillow.

Conquering the small island on our walk.

The banyan tree in Lahaina

Taking a break from the heat in the afternoon.

The boys after some shave ice playing who will move first when the wave crashes the sea wall.
It was Aidan every time.

Papaw taught us how to play shuffle board and we spent every night playing a few games.

Mike and Aidan played pickle ball

Uncle Dave and Auntie Nancy were in Maui while we were there and met up with us for some snorkeling and cliff jumping in Kapalua Bay.
Check out those dark clouds!
It was probably the worst weather of the week, but the rain only lasted about 30 minutes.

The little guys and I took shelter from the rain in a small cave.

Aidan didn't jump with Mike and Owen and decided he wanted to give it a shot.
So we hiked with my parents and Dave and Nancy over to the cliff jumping spot.

 Mike went first

Owen went next

 And Aidan followed

Uncle Dave decided to join in the fun too.

They all started the long swim back.

Around the rock

 Papaw looked on

They rounded the corner into the cove

And made it up the stairs

Pretty sweet view from the top
