Over the long weekend my parents had the chance to drive up from Arizona. We had a great visit and even a few days of sun.

The kids enjoyed reading books with Papaw and Nana

Playing numerous games of catch with the kids and the dog

And listening to some impromptu concerts.

Papaw and Nana arrived just in time to catch Aidan's last baseball game of the season and boy was it a good one! Aidan played catcher for most of the game, scored two runs and then when he was playing outfield he made a running catch to end the game!

We also spent some time in Seattle as tourists

All of us enjoyed the Ride the Ducks tour downtown. If you have never done it you should!

So glad that the grandparents could make it out for a visit.

The boys in particular have had quite the week of achievements. Aidan tried out and made the wind ensemble (the highest band) at Columbia Jr. High next year. He's quite excited. Especially since there is a fair amount of travel involved.

And Owen moved up reading groups and is now reading chapter books at school! He was also awarded a "rocket award" at school for "always doing his best work". The rocket award is a very prestigious honor that his teacher told us was VERY hard to be nominated for. He got his name announced over the loud speaker at school, put his name in a special book at the principals office and he got not one, but two pencils. It's big time for a Kindergartener! We are quite proud of our boys this week.

And speaking of the boys, they are actually headed off this weekend for a father/son retreat at Lakeside Bible Camp. They will spend late nights playing flashlight tag and catching crawdads and spend some early morning time making rockets and other cool boy stuff.
Owen and Isabella continue to be partners in crime. And with our later start at our new schools (9:30 am) the kids have some time to kill in the mornings. One morning they spent their time making a special pulley system out of the dogs leashes. It was a super operation to take their stuffed animals from the downstairs foyer to the upstairs. Super fun times.
