She's a winner!

For the second year in a row Isabella won the Kohl's cares scholarship contest for her volunteer work with the peanut butter and jelly project.  The honor comes with a $50 gift certificate.  Let the shopping begin!

busy Saturday

O.k, so not from Saturday...this was from Friday, but it is too cute not to share.
Bri and Adi came over to play for a few hours and cousin Bella really liked trying on the Ergo.
Adi didn't seem to mind either.

Sophie and her favorite toy duck.

I've seen a lot of things at garage sales, but I have never seen someone ride their horses to a garage sale.

We spent the morning at the third annual walk for water that our church organizes in partnership with World Vision.  It's a fantastic morning of awareness for what it's like for people all over the world who don't have access to clean water.
It started with Owen spending the night for kid famine.
He took part in an 18 hour fast
{essentially only missing breakfast}
and spent the night and morning learning what kids his age go through on the other side of the world.

Then, the morning is spent either walking to get water from about a mile away,
or taking part in a 5k fun run {the run is easier!}
Isabella helped with the face {hand} painting.

Owen invited his friend Shea to participate with him.
The boys were hungry and cranky and dying to break the fast at noon!
This is pre walk.

Filling up the bucket in the sound.

Mike and Isabella did the 5k fun run.
Mike ran it in 21:46 and Isabella ran it in 22...though she only ran 2.8 miles since the course wasn't super accurate.   She was still cruising along though!

We headed home, ate some lunch and got to spend the afternoon at the Alaska airlines aviation day
where cousin Chad flew up his F18 for training exercises and spent the day giving tours of his sweet ride.

Aidan and I tried to take a selfie in the front of this private jet, but the pilot took a picture for us instead.

 Who doesn't love exploring airplanes?!

This girl loves vintage as much as her mom!

Of course we found the Purdue University booth while we were there!

Owen testing out his wooden aircraft.

We stuck around to see the planes leave.

These fighters gathered quite the crowd to watch them take off.
Unfortunately, they were sticking around for more training so they pretty much just drove across the runway.

Sophie caught a bunny

It's been like the wild kingdom around our house.
Yesterday we saw that the ducklings in the pond hatched.
The coyote has been lingering just feet from our back fence,
and we have spotted several bunnies in our yard.

Sophie has noticed.
Her sniffer is working full force!
She even captured this baby bunny.
Thankfully, we were in the back yard and could take the bunny from her.

I managed to hold Sophie back, while Mike got a shovel and picked the unharmed
{though shaking} bunny up and found a hole for the bunny to find it's way to the other side of the fence.
Probably to the awaiting coyote, but we won't think about that!
The kids wanted to keep her.
She is pretty cute.

Spring fling

Isabella participated in her gymnastics spring fling.  It was fun to watch all that she has learned as a level 5 gymnast.

The rest of April

Owen is nearing the end of his swimming lessons and has almost passed level 10. After lessons we stay around for open swim and these guys walked in.  It was fun to watch an underwater rescue drill.

The weather was so nice we spent a ton of time in the yard.  And by we, I mean me and Sophie.  She didn't like that she was on the other side of the fence.

She's a real helper!

Mike built a raised garden for the back yard.  Owen and I planted lots of yummy veggies.
We celebrated our friend Jen's 40th birthday with a black and white party.

Pretty sure Owen passed Bella in height and Aidan passed by Mike.  Accurate measurements to come...

Owen is practicing for snorkeling in Maui.  Though I think there will be fewer bubbles!

The weather was amazing so Sophie and I took a few hours to enjoy the beach.

An eagle

This is how these two play.
